Diversity in Tech Scholarship Program

Teradata Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist underrepresented students pursuing a postsecondary degree in a STEM-related field.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Applicants in the United States (U.S.) must self-identify as one or more of the eligible underrepresented ethnic/racial groups: American Indian or Alaskan Native, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.

  • The first 60 applications from U.S. residents will be considered.

Applicants outside of the U.S. must:

  • Self-identify as indigenous as defined by the country of residence, regardless of gender
    OR
  • Self-identify as female

All applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be high school seniors/students in their final year of upper secondary school or graduates or current college/university undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or half-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical college (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Be pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field such as Science (natural sciences, including biology, physics, chemistry), Technology, Engineering, and Math related majors (including statistics, data science, etc.)
  • Reside in a country with a Teradata location (See Eligible Countries)

Assuming they meet all of the above eligibility requirements, children of Teradata employees are eligible to apply. Children of employees are not given preference or special consideration. Teradata employees are not eligible to apply.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • A statement on overcoming hardship

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Teradata Corporation play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to six (6) awards will be granted.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, recipients will be selected from each of Teradata’s regions as follows:

  • United States of America: two (2) recipients
  • EMEA, AMERICAS (except U. S.): two (2) recipients
  • APJ: two (2) recipients

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and the continuation of the program by Teradata Corporation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in early July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Teradata Corporation. Payment is made in one installment in early August/September. Award payments will be issued in U.S. currency.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

  • Upper secondary school diploma or certificate, if earned (International applicants only).
  • Results of examinations (International applicants only).
  • English translations for any non-English documents.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 4, 2024 3:00 pm CT.
